Nijkerk is located in the far west of the province, west of the Veluwe landscape and only about 11 km northeast of Amersfoort (Province of Utrecht). The A28 Utrecht - Amersfoort - Zwolle highway runs alongside Nijkerk.

Other places of interest:

• The old church (Grote Kerk) in the center of Nijkerk is one of the few buildings from before 1800 that have been preserved there.
• The Arkemheen polder is a bird sanctuary. It is home to the Arkemheen steam pumping station (“stoomgemaal”) from the 19th century, which can be visited in summer.
• The Salentein country estate, on the eastern edge of Nijkerk, is now a luxury restaurant known throughout the country for its wines from Argentina.
